Just take a look at the list of principal suppliers in the world to realize the magnitude of the benefits provided by the oil. Up to six oil companies are among the 10 most profitable on the planet with a higher joint gains to 1.5 billion euros.

However, none of them manages to overcome the income of a single supermarket. Wal-Mart in 2010 led the ranking of the world’s largest companies with a turnover of more than 315,000 million.

This chain, born in Arkansas in 1962, has nearly 9,000 retail outlets spread across the U.S. geography, which employs over two million people.

Thanks to a net profit in excess of 12,000 million euros, Wal-Mart has managed to stay for the second year in the first place in the economic literature listings such as Fortune or Forbes.

Behind the popular supermarket in the U.S., the top five of the world’s largest companies is completed by the U.S. oil company Exxon Mobil, the Anglo-Dutch Royal Dutch Shell, BP and China’s Sinopec.

Once again, United States
dominate the list of 500 companies with 133 representatives, but that figure is less than the 185 companies that had a decade ago. After the American giant, Japan has 68 companies, while China has grown from 12 companies in 2001 to 61 today.

Gas Natural Group 300x211 The international business boosts the benefit of Gas Natural Group 10.3%The company blamed this growth to “strong” growth in international activity of gas marketing, development activity in Latin America and the capture of synergies from the integration of Union Fenosa.

The turnover of Gas Natural Group grew by 7.4% in 2011, to add 21.076 million euros, while gross operating profit (EBITDA) amounted to 4.645 million euros, up by 3.8%.

The management board will propose to the AGM a shareholder remuneration charged to the results of 2011 of 821 million euros, up 10.7% over the previous year.

The group highlights the growing importance of internationalization of its business. 40% of EBITDA comes and international business, having registered an increase of 10% during the year, thanks to the sale of gas and improved activity in Latin America.
